How do I properly maintain the MicroAir Nebuliser Mesh Cap?
1. After each inhalation treatment, remove the Mesh Cap from the Medication Bottle and discard remaining medication.
2. Pour a small amount of distilled water into the Medication Bottle and replace the Mesh Cap.
3. Turn on the unit to nebulise the water for 1-2 minutes to remove residual medication in mesh holes.
4. Turn off unit and remove the Medication Bottle from the Main Unit.
5. Remove the Mesh Cap from the Medication Bottle and discard remaining water from the Medication Bottle.
6. Rinse the Medication Bottle, Mesh Cap and other attached parts in distilled water. Do NOT wash the Medication Bottle or Mesh Cap under strong running tap water.
7. Wipe off excess water with a clean dry cloth and allow the parts to dry thoroughly in a clean environment. Do not use any type of cloth or tissue to wipe the Mesh Cap, the fibres may clog the holes of the Mesh Cap.
8. Reassemble the device and store it in the Storage Case or in a clean environment.
How is a Peak Flow Meter used?
Attach the appropriate size mouthpiece on the input side of the Peak Flow Meter. Slide the indicator to the bottom (zero) side of the scale. Take a deep breath, put your mouth tightly over the mouthpiece and blow out hard and fast as possible, a short sharp blast. You do not have to expel all of the air in your lungs. The final position of the indicator is your PEFR (Peak Expiratory Flow Rate).
How can I clean the main unit of the Nebuliser?
To clean the casing of the main unit moisten a soft cloth with water and a mild detergent. Wipe the casing and immediately dry using a soft clean cloth. Do not rinse or immerse the main unit in any liquid or clean the main unit using abrasive cleaners or any type of chemical.
Can the MicroAir Nebuliser be used for treatment that requires continuous or intermittent flow?
The MicroAir Nebuliser (NE-U22), is designed to accommodate your needs for either type of operation. Follow the instructions of your healthcare professional regarding your treatment plan.
I have seen less expensive Nebuliser Kits in the store. Can I use these with my OMRON Nebuliser?
Nebuliser Kits are designed to match the device they are attached to. It is difficult if not impossible to design a ‘universal’ Nebuliser Kit. Using a ‘non OMRON’ product the nebulisation rate (the amount of medication that is vaporised), and the particle size (the size of the medication droplets in the vapour), could be significantly less than required. For accurate nebulisation that aligns with the specifications in the Instruction Manual you must use the OMRON Nebuliser Kit.
Does the Nebuliser Kit require any cleaning?
It is important to understand what is meant by Nebuliser Kit. This is the cylindrical shaped component that includes the medication container, Virtual Valve assembly and the mouthpiece, but not the mask (adult or child). The Nebuliser Kit is available for all OMRON Compressor Nebulisers.
Recommended after each use (but necessary every day of normal use):
Boil all nebuliser parts (not the tube, masks and the main unit) for approx. 10 minutes.
The standard OMRON mask (adult or child) is made from PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) is more durable material available?
OMRON also offers a SEBS (Styrene Ethylbutylene Styrene, an elastomeric material), mask in both an adult and child version. It is more costly compared to the PVC but can be boiled for through cleaning. Do NOT attempt to boil a PVC mask, these will quickly harden and deform if this is done.
Are the adult and child masks as well as the mouthpiece Latex free?
All these items (adult mask, child mask and mouthpiece), are made of latex-free PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride).
How do I change the air filter in my Nebuliser?
All OMRON Nebulisers except the MicroAir (NE-U22), are equipped with an air filter. On the Compressor Nebulisers these are typically found under the small blue cap on the front of the unit. For the Ultrasonic Nebulisers the filter can be found in the fan cover housing. Air filters should be changed on a regular basis to ensure proper performance of your unit. The filters are available from the nearest OMRON retailer.
After using the nebuliser, some moisture is left in the air tube; how do I remove it?
If there is moisture or liquid remaining in the air tube, follow the procedure below:
1. Make sure that the air tube is still connected to the air connector of the compressor.
2. Unplug the air tube from the nebuliser kit.
3. Turn on the compressor and pump air through the air tube to expel the moisture.
