April 8, 2011
OMRON Healthcare Co., received both iF Product Design Award and Universal Design Award for the blood pressure monitors M6 and M6 Comfort in this year’s competitions.
The iF Product design Award, presented by the Hannover-based International Forum Design GmbH, is one of the world’s most prestigious design awards. Products are rated on uniqueness, innovation, aesthetic appearance, usefulness and eco-friendliness as well as performance, quality and price. This year’s competition drew 2756 entries from 43 countries, of which 993 products received awards. The Universal Design Awards, hosted by the Universal Design Association, evaluates fairness, flexibility, safety, ease-of-use and cost of products.
With rising numbers in life style-related diseases and the need for regular monitoring OMRON aims to address customer requirements by providing health care products characterized by accuracy, comfort as well as an attractive design. OMRON Healthcare received iF Product Design awards for five consecutive years since 2007 and Universal Design Awards for four consecutive years since 2008.
The award-winning M6 series with OMRON’s IntellilsenseTM technology offers various features for comfortable and accurate blood pressure monitoring: By means of a cuff wrapping guide a symbol on the display provides confirmation that the cuff has been wrapped tightly enough. The integrated pressure control system allows for optimal speed and pressure thereby ensuring comfortable measurements while the dual check system eliminates any doubt of incorrect readings and assures the user of accurate results by way of two sensors. In order to help people interpret their readings a blood pressure level indicator shows if the readings are within the recommended guidelines by the World Health Organisation. In addition, the M6 Comfort has a unique pre-formed cuff fitting medium and large arms with ease and comfort. Both blood pressure monitors are clinically validated.
Moving forward OMRON Healthcare will continue to approach product development from a user perspective and with a strong focus on accuracy, ease-of-use and design.
