What is the battery lifetime of the MicroAIR U100?
One battery set of the MicroAIR U100 will last for approximately 4 hours. It depends on the type of medication and the duration of your treatment how many sessions one battery set lasts. Optionally an AC adapter is available to save batteries when using the MicroAIR U100 in the comfort of your own home.
What is the difference between a mesh and a compressor nebulizer?
All nebulizers are devices that convert liquid medicine into aerosol droplets that can be easily inhaled through a mouthpiece or mask. The difference is in the technique that is used to convert the medicine into aerosol droplets. A compressor nebulizer uses compressed air to create the aerosol.
A mesh nebulizer uses a vibrating element oscillating at high frequency to push medication through fine holes in the mesh, generating aerosol droplets. This technique allows the nebulizer to be very compact and silent. It makes them easy to use on-the-go, whenever and wherever you need it.
Can the MicroAIR Nebulizer be used for treatment that requires continuous or intermittent flow?

The standard OMRON masks (adult or child), is made from PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride), is a more durable material available?
OMRON also offers a SEBS (Styrene Ethylbutylene Styrene, an elastomeric material), mask in both an adult and child version. It is more costly compared to the PVC but can be boiled for through cleaning. Do NOT attempt to boil a PVC mask, these will quickly harden and deform if this is done.

A nebulizer can be used to treat diseases of the upper, middle and lower respiratory tract. For example:
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, also called COPD
- Bronchitis and Bronchiolitis Pneumonia
- Rhinitis, also called Common Cold
- Allergic Rhinitis, also called Hay Fever
- Chronic Rhinosinusitis
As of which age can a nebulizer be used?
Nebulizers are appropriate for the use of babies and children.
How often do I need to replace the different parts and where can I buy them?
For most nebulizers it is recommended to replace the nebulizer kit, the mouth and nose piece, masks and tube every year. Air filters should be replaced approximately every 60 days. Specifically, for the Mesh Nebulizer it is recommended to exchange the mesh cap after approximately 1 year.

What parts of the nebulizer should I clean and how often?
Depending on the type of nebulizer, the nebulizer can contain several pieces:
- The main unit or compressor
- The nebulizer kit where the medication is added
- The tube that connects the main unit with the nebulizer kit
- Mesh cap
- Mouth piece to inhale medication through the mouth
- Nose piece to inhale medication through the nose
- Air filter
Note: Always refer to the cleaning instructions as included in the instruction manual of the nebulizer.
It is recommended to clean the nebulizer kit, mouth piece, nose piece and mask after each use (but necessary after every day of formal use). They can be washed with warm water and a mild detergent. Then, you should rinse them thoroughly with clean hot tap water and allow to air dry in a clean place.
Disinfection should be done once a week. This can be done by boiling these parts for approximately 10 minutes except for PVC parts (some masks and tubes) which can harden and deform when this is done. Alternatively, use commercially available disinfectant.
Thoroughly rinse with clean water after disinfection; follow the instructions given by the supplier of the disinfectant.
The casing of main unit and the tube do not require extensive cleaning, but can of course be cleaned using a soft cloth with water and a mild detergent. Wipe the casing and immediately dry using a soft clean cloth.
The air filter should not be washed. In case it was to become wet it should be replaced to avoid blockages.
Specifically, for a Mesh Nebulizer: the mesh cap should be cleaned after each use:
- Fill the medication container with water and nebulize the water. To prevent medication from drying and adhering to the mesh after use, nebulize the water for 1 to 2 minutes.
- Then wash the mesh cap in mild (neutral) detergent, and rinse with clean water. Allow to airdry in a clean place.
What is the difference between a nebulizer and a humidifier?
Nebulizers are medical devices that convert liquid medicine into an aerosol, while humidifiers are just used to increase the moist in the ambient when the air is dry (eg when using high heating).
What is the difference between the A3 complete and the rest of the compressor nebulizers?
The A3 complete is a unique 3-in-1 adjustable nebulizer. Thanks to its 3 position settings it adapts the particle size of the medication to target the right part of the airways, while most nebulizers deliver only one particle size and hence target only one part of the airways.
Why is the size of the medication droplets delivered by the nebulizer important?
The particle size of the medication delivered by the nebulizer or MMAD (Mass Median Aerodynamic Diameter) determines where most of the medication will be delivered in the respiratory tract. This is important because, to ensure efficacy of the medication for the different respiratory conditions, it should be delivered in the right part of the airways.
For example, particles larger than 7.5 micron deposit mainly on the upper airways, while particles smaller than 4.5 micron deposit mainly on the lower airways.
What are the benefits of using a nebulizer?
One of the key benefits of inhalation is the fact that the medication is delivered directly into the respiratory tract, allowing for a high drug concentration in the target area.
