Position 2: Middle Airways
For treatment of patients who suffer from disorders of the middle airways (e.g. Tracheitis or Tracheobronchitis)
Position 3 : Lower Airways
For nebulization treatment of patients who suffer from disorders of the lower airways (e.g. Asthma, Bronchitis, Bronchiolitis, Bronchiectasis or Bronchopneumonia).
For the hundreds of millions of people who currently suffer from chronic respiratory problems such as asthma, pulmonary or bronchial disease, and allergies, simply breathing can be a daily challenge, and breathing difficulties can lead to serious health complications.
A major challenge in respiratory therapy is the efficient delivery of the medication to the bronchi and bronchioles in the lower respiratory tract. To overcome this challenge, inhalers and nebulizers convert the medication to an aerosolized form for rapid delivery. These devices convert liquid medication into a mist of microscopic particles that is then inhaled through a mouthpiece or mask.Respiratory Diseases

OMRON also offers a SEBS (Styrene Ethylbutylene Styrene, an elastomeric material), mask in both an adult and child version. It is more costly compared to the PVC but can be boiled for through cleaning. Do NOT attempt to boil a PVC mask, these will quickly harden and deform if this is done.
Nebulizers are devices that can convert liquid medicine into aerosol droplets that can be easily inhaled through a mouthpiece or mask. Nebulizers are intended to be used for inhaling medication for respiratory disorders.>
A nebulizer can be used to treat diseases of the upper, middle and lower respiratory tract. For example:
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, also called COPD
- Bronchitis and Bronchiolitis Pneumonia
- Rhinitis, also called Common Cold
- Allergic Rhinitis, also called Hay Fever
- Chronic Rhinosinusitis
Nebulizers are appropriate for the use of babies and children.
To find replacement pieces or additional accessories for your Omron nebulizers, you should contact your usual distributor.
The nebulizer can contain several pieces:
The main unit or compressor
The nebulizer kit where the medication is added
The tube that connects the main unit with the nebulizer kit
Mouth piece to inhale medication through the mouth
Nose piece to inhale medication through the nose
It is recommended to clean the nebulizer kit, mouth piece, nose piece and mask after each use (but necessary after every day of formal use). They can be washed with warm water and a mild detergent. Then, you should rinse them thoroughly with clean hot tap water and allow to air dry in a clean place.
For disinfection should be done one a week. This can be done by boiling these parts for approximately 10 minutes except for PVC parts (some masks and tubes) which can harden and deform when this is done. Alternatively, use commercially available disinfectant. Thoroughly rinse with clean water after disinfection; follow the instructions given by the supplier of the disinfectant.
The casing of main unit and the tube do not require extensive cleaning, but can of course be cleaned using a soft cloth with water and a mild detergent. Wipe the casing and immediately dry using a soft clean cloth.
The air filter should not be washed. In case it was to become wet it should be replaced to avoid blockages.
Nebulizers are medical devices that convert liquid medicine into an aerosol, while humidifiers are just used to increase the moist in the ambient when the air is dry (eg when using high heating).
The A3 complete is a unique 3-in-1 adjustable nebulizer. Thanks to its 3 position settings it adapts the particle size of the medication to target the right part of the airways, while most nebulizers deliver only one particle size and hence target only one part of the airways.
The particle size of the medication delivered by the nebulizer or MMAD (Mass Median Aerodynamic Diameter) determines where most of the medication will be delivered in the respiratory tract. This is important because, to ensure efficacy of the medication for the different respiratory conditions, it should be delivered in the right part of the airways.
For example, particles larger than 7.5 micron deposit mainly on the upper airways, while particles smaller than 4.5 micron deposit mainly on the lower airways.
One of the key benefits of inhalation is the fact that the medication is delivered directly into the respiratory tract, allowing for a high drug concentration in the target area.
Nebulizing medication can even have a greater clinical effect compared to similar or larger doses delivered orally (tablets) or by subcutaneous injection. Studies have also shown that this can lead to better treatment results than using inhalers alone.
Most medications for the treatment of respiratory diseases of the upper, middle and lower airways are available on a liquid form and can therefore be used with a nebulizer. Nebulizers also allow mixing different medications in the nebulizer chamber, so that they can be inhaled at the same time for a higher convenience.
